Either one, all are considered DJ's.
I believe the majority of Dj's out there fall in the C. category.
But that's just me, and i'm a dumba**.

Deff more in the B catigory. There are so many production company's and DJs that dont really scratch or "mix" persay, its more along the lnies of just fading into the next track. I have djed a wedding "oviously did not play hardcore" played hip hop and country and shit the people liked. It's interesting, and pays well :) --------------------------------------- - Sean Apollo http://djseanapollo.tripod.com http://www.happyhardcore.com North American Hardcore Movement Free Fall Recordings Rave n' Beats USA

its not going to happen over night.. and don't expect anything from it.. i mean, its hard as hell to get to where u want to be as an artist.. I'd suggest, just take it day by day.. be willing to make some serious investments, including $ and time.. a nice set of decks ALONE will run u at least a grand, and that doesn't even include a mixer (unless u get lucky). it'll take YEARS for u to develope your own style and technique.. i've been playing since '00, and have invested so much time and money on records and equipment.. Plus, i've been in school the whole time, and am about to go 2 dental school.. As much as i'd like to spend more time on music/ production.. i'm glad it works out the way it does.. because this way, i'm not getting sick of what i do music wise.. if i spend 24hrs / 7days a week on music.. i think i'd be concerned about getting sick of it... be sure to keep an opened mind to other music as well.. because believe it or not, you can't subject yourself to the same kind of music 24/7... everything has to be in moderation...
otherwise, best of luck to u~!! i'm sure you'll find it extremely rewarding in the long run, and worth every penny/minute=)

I also have this problem, whenever I should start with DJing or not...
problems:
a) why should I start?
b) where would I play at?
c) where would I get all the equipment?
d) costs about?
e) where would I keep all the equipment at home? :)
f) Vinyl or CD system?
g) what are the rewards?
h) what should I play?
"stood in front of a crowd of raving mad people...all there for your tunes"
I have that kind of vision in my head too, would be nice to make that vision come true :)

Because you think you would enjoy DJing?

First at home, maby at some homepartys, start there and see where it leads.

Pretty much everyone around here says they buy their equipment from http://www.thomann.de its in germany, but they have the site also in finnish. They also send stuff with "cash on delivery", and its a cheap store.

Depends if you want to buy "pro" equipment at start, or go with "starter packs". But if you buy pro equipment, you can sell them easier later, if you dont want to DJ anymore or want to upgrade to better ones.

Anywhere you can fit them.
quote: Originally posted by Roberticus: f) Vinyl or CD system?
Depends what genre you want to play. Best would be to have both, but its cheaper to start with CD, cause the records dont cost so much. But some records are only on vinyl. Most of the DJ's usually say vinyl is better, so i dont know.
quote: Originally posted by Roberticus: g) what are the rewards?
Like if you play at an event/bar etc? Depends how good / well known you are and what the place usually pays.
quote: Originally posted by Roberticus: h) what should I play?
Whatever you want to play, if you play at home. If in some event/bar etc, it depends of the places policys in music.

I would'nt mind being a DJ but I prefer dancing or raving. It just has to be a good DJ that plays really good music.
