I was just listening to an old mix tape from years ago, and there's loads or turntableism (if thats even a word!?)...Lots of chopping and dropping of tunes and other turntable magic...Iv'e also noticed this on a lot of the older tapes...but can't recall hearing any such magic on any of the CD's released over the past years...Sure, there's a lot of scratching..but why don't they do more things to 'spice up' the mix? I'm sure the DJ's are more than capable of it...
Perhaps it's just me being plain dumb and not noticing any...but i'd definatly appreciate it more as it would make a nice change from *tune-mix-tune-mix*
...or maybe this is just a useless topic...

Kev Energy plays around with the crossfader quite a bit, especially compared to some djs.

i find a lot of our local DJs in my city are alot more into that sort of thing. . .
personally the only thing i see the international names having over our locals is that they have newer unreleased material

cd releases are usually studio quality mixes. most djs, myself included, will do more for a live show than a studio mix. in a studio mix if you screw up you have to start all over again, well you don't have to but it sounds flawed. in a live mix you're more apt to have fun with things and see how the crowd will respond.
