Okay so I'm not into breakbeat all that much and I've just been pissing about on FL and basically slowed down an uplifting orchestral drum and bass track down to 140bpm, sounds much better. Just wondering though, is uplifting orchestral breakbeat a thing? Or am I going down the wrong lines in terms of genre classification?

I looked it up on Google and somehow it referred me to uplifting hardcore :| If uploading a clip will help just say, not sure if I explained myself very well :P

Dunno if I'll be able to help with the classification of it (but at a guess, just uplifting Hardcore Breaks?) but I definitely want to hear a clip. Sounds awesome.

It's not hardcore though :P

I've uploaded a clip, the intro and main bit, I mean it's breakbeat as in it has a breakbeat, I've just never come across 'uplifting breakbeat' so I'm wondering if there's a specific term it's hiding under :P

Here's a short cut of my old track, produced in '07, which is exactly an uplifting orchestral breakbeat/trance. Maybe it will help. Such style is non existant, at least I haven't heard any similar track to mine.

This is uplifting rave breaks in my opinion, and actually one of the best rave breaks tunes I've ever heard.

 @Triquatra
  Kinda what I'm looking for, but they seem too chill-outy rather than uplifting, not sure how to explain it, haha!
  @Kail
  That's exactly what I mean! :P Shame it's non-existant, would be nice to listen to a few examples, shall have to make it existant! haha

As long as u pump the breakbeat it is the thing, though might be Alternative Breakbeat Hardcore. And if u add the specific D&B bass then its alternative D&B. And why would u care anyway? Produce what u want to produce.

I love trancy D&B. I bet many people wouldn't even think of calling it Freeform lol but it seems to be.

Haha, I was actually just interested, I'm not a fan of breakbeat at all really but I do uplifting melodic stuff. Just wondered if there was anything similar floating about that I havn't heard of, it could be my open door to breakbeat land ;)

     This is funky breaks. Where's epic orchestral part and long uplifting melody? That's the difference. :)

you're talking about the difference between two songs though - essentially all the elements are there to make them identical genres

a bit like comparing a Gammer tune to a Darwin tune...essentially different, but still essentially the same genre..
