Was just wondering what everyone elses opinion is on the way "uk hardcore" has changed over the years, growing up I started listening to bonkers and progressed from there. This new generation stuff to me is utter trash and closer to dubstep or trap or whatever the hell you can call it. Kinda noticed this change start around clubland xtreme hardcore 8 and its never been the same since. I really only follow the likes of powerstomp these days, was wondering if anyone knows any artists still producing uk hardcore style music as its pretty hard to come by anything that doesn't disgrace my eyedrums lol. Lemme know what you guys think, maybe im just old fashioned lol but that new stuff to me doesnt deserve to be called hardcore in any way. Hardcore desire to hit my speakers with a mallet. Maybe?

I started listening around 2011 but I feel the same way you do. I like a lot of the older stuff, but I can't stand the ear-wrecking EDM crapcore of today. In fact I have a hard time finding any new hardcore I like, whether western or Japanese.
By the way, don't tell rafferty about this thread. He'll have a meltdown.

I'm like you, I enjoy the tracks of yesteryear. When I started listening to Happy Hardcore, Happy2bHardcore Chapter 6 has just been released in the States (2001). Tracks today have that soft, mushy drum beat instead of the harder drum beats years ago. And it's like, so many tracks now have that watery synth sample. Intro's are boring...I can't wait for this era to phase out. DJ's aren't doing any interesting tricks or transitions on CD mixes, which leads back to tracks having boring intros that usually last for 30-40 sec.

It appears that most people feel this way eventually. The time changes depending on when they got into the genre. For me the vast majority of Hardcore after 2005 is terrible, getting exponentially worse in the few years following. Although the quality has improved in the last couple of years, now that the music has moved away from being focused on profitability somewhat. Many people will say the same about the years that i love. There are some people who love the old stuff and still love the new stuff as well.
Clearly 'quality' is entirely subjective.

To be honest the top tier have been pushing for a more commercial sound for well over a decade now.
Cause i need you to pay me, please just pay me buy my tunes. always been about the money and the pizza and trying to be trendy, which what Happy Hardcore/UK Hardcore was never about, should be going against the system not following it.

My point was more that the two styles are still around - just both equally done to death over the past 10 years.

Okay I had a pretty good response's gong on but thanks to the ads it's all gone lol
Basically:
-been listening to hardcore since 2011
-Like all forms of hardcore despite era or sound
-Favorite era: 04-08 UK/happy hardcore
-if you don't like the hybrid hardcore sound, then don't listen to it lol.
-90s happy hardcore is my least favorite, but that doesn't mean I don't listen to it
-i love modern hardcore because a lot of it is focused on Melody and beautiful leads which people constantly complain about because PLUR no longer exists.
-im surprised I even check this site out because man some of y'all are grumpy gooses.
-also give freeform and makina more love because yes.

I can't be that much help though, I stopped actively trying to follow hardcore around about 2007. So much stuff out there. Surely you can just pull up a few soundcloud mixes and find what you're after?
