Before anything else, I must show my most sincere gratitude for the amazing work of rescuing and restoring the immense musical patrimony of Sharkey. There is no doubt that, without the efforts of those who have participated in the elaboration of this new album and the compilation of the digital masters of his whole discography, they would have been probably lost in the oblivion, most of them fated to be forever in such a defective format like the vinyl, with its crappy sound. For this reason, and in contrast with some other opinions that I have read along this topic, even 100 pounds could be considered a bargain if we take into account the vast amount of job recovering the also vast Sharkey's discography digitally.
I have already downloaded the first 3 CDs and for now I only have been able to listen to Sound Assassin. In this sense, I have to say that I was slightly disappointed due to the fact that it sounds quite different with respect to the version featured in Bonkers 3. It even seems an earlier version prior to the definitive version used in Bonkers 3, since some of the sounds are lacking (or just have a different sound) and the acid sequences are pretty different than those used in the mixed version. Regarding this issue, I guess that it must have been because you could not recover the definitive version, and instead the only source available was a DAT tape or something else with that prior version. What I would like to ask is whether I am correct or if it was due to a different reason.

Some of the older tracks seems to be overly compressed.
Will these be remastered better at a later date? I already got Rainbow Island so that one aint a biggy for me, but the other's are alittle.
Scratch that. A SHIT load of the tracks are overly compressed. Newer tracks doesnt sound so horrible, but it's sounds like a bad attempt to loudness war "a la Metallica" got shit for

Until next week I will not be able to listen to the albums with proper headphones, but I will analyze as well that dynamic range loss stated by Samination. For now, the only thing I can say is that tracks 8, 9 and 11 from CD 3 are vinyl recordings.
On the positive side, I am very happy with Terra Nova, which is a legit digital master and, unlike Sound Assassin, sounds exactly like the version featured in Bonkers 3 and later released on vinyl as Digital Manouvers - Terranova.

forgive my ignorance, when you say " Vinyl recording" , you mean , they got the track onto the disc by ripping it directly from a record as opposed to sharkey having the file or whatever and being able to work on it to the degree it should be?
I have no idea how this works. There isn't a program where you could rip from vinyl back into comp and like.. open all the elements of the track to re work?

8/9: They're off Dat, but redline masters. There's only so much you can do. Also some of the Dats are vinyl masters, ie that's their intended purpose. Not vinyl "sourced"
I may have used the wrong version of Sound Assassin, there are several. This one was taken from the same Dat as the other b3 stuff (beginning of the end, Terra Nova, end of the beginning) so I had assumed it was the right one. We may be stuck in a situation where all versions aren't the, "right" one but I'll do what I can.

The Today's the day (Fracus & Darwin remix) is a new remix? remember Darwin did the 2009 remix on Bonkers Original Hardcore album. 2009 remix was good aswell as the original. Remember Bonkers Anthem feat. Lisa Abbott from that album also.

Yeah, it just had a production pass and tweaks from the duo.
