That's right, I meant ripping it directly from a vinyl record.

I have no idea how this works. There isn't a program where you could rip from vinyl back into comp and like.. open all the elements of the track to re work?
It is not possible, not even with the digital master (it would be like trying to extract the red and yellow paint from orange paint after mixing the former ones). To do this you would need the original project file in which the song was made, together with the required software, VSTs and samples, or rather all the different sound sequences split by channels, each one in a separate file.

8/9: They're off Dat, but redline masters. There's only so much you can do. Also some of the Dats are vinyl masters, ie that's their intended purpose. Not vinyl "sourced"
Then I must have gotten it wrong. Maybe it is just that the percussion samples that Sharkey used for these songs were sourced from vinyl.

I may have used the wrong version of Sound Assassin, there are several. This one was taken from the same Dat as the other b3 stuff (beginning of the end, Terra Nova, end of the beginning) so I had assumed it was the right one. We may be stuck in a situation where all versions aren't the, "right" one but I'll do what I can.

I'm so glad to read that The Beginning Of The End and End Of The Beginning have been recovered, as well as the fact that there were several versions of Sound Assassin; probably the right one is somewhere else. Will you make them all available in the digital catalogue? Also, was Temporal Rift in that tape or, at least, somewhere else?

Don't do that! At least use Apple Lossless to keep the quality.
yeah I just have itunes convert everything to ALAC when it gets imported

Ecccchoing what everyone has said :) Downloaded and enjoyed; CD3 the most being a very happily stuck-in-the-past-head.
Teknostorm does seem to be clipping all over the place though in comparison to the full version that's on the unmixed CD of 'The No1 Hardcore Album The Oldskool Mix' o.o
really lovely hearing those Bonkers 3 tracks properly. Nice one! :)

I don't think there is any major difference when you are talking 320kps AAC, certainly not worth all the extra data.
Btw my download was missing two tracks from disk 3.

Certainly a slightly different version to Sound Assasin on second listen. That first big drop after the breakdown as it goes into the 4/4 kick the acid should peak and start crawling back down the scale again!

There's quite alot of fidelity that's lost if you do though. Not always noticed on crapy speakers i have, but there are a few occasions i can hear something... :P

Judging by the sound Al storm was making, I would say 2009 or 2010 that one.

Saw something about licensing issues with CD3 last night, maybe it's something to do with that?

Aye, I am, too busy enjoying the CD to notice haha!
I must admit though they do sound like "DJ Masters" for thonking out in a club, hoping that the CD versions will be a little less harsh for home/regular listening.

Everyone who put the vocal mix of Sound Assassin when I said the instrumental version was on there 100% is an idiot but I admire their tenacity.
CD2/3 are a decent split across all eras, styles etc. There were runaway winners, but the expected ones. The main thing that got pulled from the brink is the Rainbow Island remix which I hadn't really considered but was popular enough to now feature.
Lots of votes for the Darwin remix of "Today's the Day" but it's rendered obselete by the F&D update; it'll still exist in the digital domain but there's no point replicating and wasting a valuable space on the middle discs. Also I can't believe "Forever Flying" got one vote, that's completely mental and it's going on anyway...... remastered at Metropolis for my amusement.
CDJay
I have to say the Darwin remix is twice the track of that update

what strikes me odd, but has Sharkey rarely done any remixes?
Most of the tracks on the CD's (still waiting for the CD4 of course) are basicly just remixes of Sharkey's tracks.
God damn the compression on the tracks are maddening. I'm listening the original of Lazerbeam Addict, and the levels on the higher frequences jump around every time the lower freq aren't present.
God Jay, I know how much you've put your sole (but not your soul) into this project, and how much we've asked for it, but considering how pedantic you where with the quality of Tru the Roof release, how the effin hell did you allow this ****ery?
Or rather, how the hell did whoever made the DATs **** it up so much? Clearly it's evident that a bunch of the tracks aren't this bad on other releases
